Tao # 39 / Unity
Ф
Springing forth from DivineUnity
in the ancient days of yore
the skys were clear and the air was pure
The buffalo filled the plains
the only sugar was in the cane
there were no rabbits in the south seas
no killer bees
no broken words, nor treaties
Rivers were filled with Salmon
Spring fields were visited by Kore
Summer maidens married under the raw Sun
and gave birth to the quivering Taneore
The Ancients aware of their DivineUnity
did not take more than enough for their communities
there was no striving for limitless growth
they valued the ocean and the earth
Leaders were like mighty trees
having names like Te Whiti
They spoke deep truth. They were mighty
they understood the way of harmony
When the people are unaware of DivineUnity
they choose shrubs and bushes instead of trees
are led into conflict and brought to their knees
by endless war and a lack of peace
in the absence of the way
the children cease to play
The earth heats up and the glaciers melt
the people forget the ways of the Kelt
Instead of valuing the sacred grove
they pillage the streams in search of gold
fertility fades away from the land
as they misinterpret the bible and koran
The greatest leaders
are the bodhisattvas of the earth
for they know that true power
is to lead with work
knowing that humility
is the root of great nobility
they are
unafraid to toil with their hands
learn the ways of the land
to dig the ditches
and lay the foundations
to throw the switches
and serve the nation
thus the whole is more
than the sum of its parts
and it is wise to learn
how to fix your own car
learning the principles
that govern each thing
just as in the chorus
each voice must sing
in tune with the other
reach out to your sister
and lift up your brother
learn to value the old cloak
to dress
inconspicuously
find the delight in the basic rock
do not wave about the Pounamu Mere
it is better to learn and live the Way
than to wear things of gold or wave things of jade
- What does true Power not do?
- What is this power, from where does it come?
- False power can show itself through which type of thought?
- What is the movement of True Power?
