There are those who are never happy with what they have. They always want more. If they have a beautiful new i-phone and a new one comes out the next day, they must have it. Even if they do not need it, they must have it. This being might have a new car, but feels it is already old at 6 months and will trade it for new model, even if this means financial challenge. This is the effect of today's global marketing strategy targeting everyone on the planet including our children! True prosperity if found through the invoking the law of circulation by giving and through creating a wealthy community where no one is in need.
Few people who are given the opportunity to learn wish to sit about on the dole. The great society values all its members, educates them from the beginning of their lives with the latest and best understanding. Let the economy serve society not the other way around, otherwise the majority will work to death and there will always be danger from the deprived and revolution from the downtrodden.
Refrain from wasting money on war. Do not begrudge one's neighbors their good and celebrate the birth of every healthy child.

and if so where? If he didn't say it, who did? I never see a source
for this common quote and am beginning to suspect it.

The quote is a paraphrase from a line in Honoré de Balzac's tragicomic
novel "Le Père Goriot." Here is the quote in its original French:

"Le secret des grandes fortunes sans cause apparente est un crime
oublié, parce qu' il a été proprement fait."
