Tao Te #78 ~ Overcoming
ะค
There is nothing in our world
softer than the swirls
of water
Water seems weak flowing in a stream
flexible and yielding
like life in a dream
yet water cuts the hardest stone
and finds it ways through any zone
drop by drop it seems so small
but flowing together it overcomes the strong
the flexible overcomes the rigid
the pliable overcomes the hard
the weak overcome the strong
the poor overcome the rich
David overcomes Goliath
thus it is wise to respect
the man on the corner
to love the meek
honor the poor
but although we know this within our hearts
the first step on the path is hard to start
such teachings are hard to live
it is easier to take than to give
this is why the greatest leaders
are those who take on the mantel
during the harshest crisis
unafraid of a crown of thorns
they work to insure the silos
are filled with corn
this surplus of grain crowns them kings
these are those who rise from the streets
and having been tested and overcome
they are welcomed in every home
just as the greatest mystics
are unafraid of the pain and misery of the world
and in taking up the yoke of love
and holding those in pain tenderly
become the kings within heaven
just as quantuum physics seems mysterious
truth seems like a paradox
